Hydrophobic Silicone Resin SiFS-68

Description

SiFS-68 is a solvent-thinnable silane and siloxane mixture. SiFS-68 diluent is generally used for hydrophobic impregnation of mineral construction materials and as a waterproof primer for mineral substrates. SiFS-68 can also be used as an adhesive for asphalt-bound mineral or mineral mixed systems. The product develops its hydrophobic effect as a result of the reaction with atmospheric moisture or with water adsorbed onto the pores and capillary walls of the construction material. Compared with silicone resin based waterproofing products, SiFS-68 features better alkali resistance and almost no effect on the water vapor permeability of building materials.

Application

•Impregnation/Primer

Diluted solution of SiFS-68 is applied tothe construction materials by spreading, brushing, spraying, etc. Generally, it is sufficient to apply two coats, wet on wet, to the construction material, once its surface region has air-dried. A trial test is necessary to determine suitable dosage.

•Bituminous systems

SiFS-68 can be used for pretreatment of mineral components in bitumen systems to improve the affinity between the pretreated mineral components and bitumen. It needs to be fully mixed with the mineral matrix and usually needs to be pressurized to achieve synchronous solidification with the reaction.

•Dilution

SiFS-68 can be diluted with C6-C15 alkane solvents, aromatic hydrocarbon solvents or anhydrous ethanol. The dilution ratio is 1:10-15. Alkane solvents are preferred.
